It all started back in April 2016 when I discovered I could take my business Rock 'N' Decor to the next level by making hats and apparel. I had lined up a few concerts for the year, and wanted to make a hat to wear at every show that I went to. The first two I had lined up were Sick Puppies and Eagles of Death Metal in May.
The first hat I made was to wear at the Sick Puppies concert. It is still one of my favorite hats. A few years ago, they used the "Free Hugs" slogan with their merch. I incorporated that and a drawing of one of my favorite childhood poems, Hug of War by Shel Silverstein.
At the show I started thinking about how cool it would be for Emma, the bassist, to recognize the slogan from a past tour. From there it went to, "Man, it would be awesome if she signed my hat! Better yet, what if I gave it to her?!" I was a little timid, and did not even attempt contact with Emma, or the other band members. I was too just too shy, but it did get me thinking of all the possibilities that I could do next.
Here are some pictures of Sick Puppies 5/14/16 at Home Bar in Arlington Heights, IL
